Hello! I’m Katrina! Your California Elopement Photographer!

Emotional Photography, Directed by Joy

Growing up in California has given me a serious advantage: I have insider knowledge of the absolute best places for your photos. Whether you are looking for that perfect, secret spot in Yosemite to exchange your vows, or you want to share a quiet moment on a Point Reyes cliffside that looks suspiciously like Scotland, I know it!

My favorite thing about elopements is the quality one on one time we get to spend together. No distractions, no massive guest list headaches, just us creating beautiful photos to commemorate what is arguably the most special day of your lives together. I used to shoot big weddings, and while they were wonderful, I always wished I had more relaxed time with the couples. I am thrilled to be an elopement photographer because I get to truly capture your story, not just your timeline.

Why Choose Me as Your Elopement Photographer? (The Short, Honest Answer)

Look, my photography background is solid (hello, former photojournalist that’s shot for the NY Times), so I can handle literally anything your day throws at us, from unexpected fog to rogue sea lions. But here is the real reason you should choose me: I am your professional third wheel who knows when to shut up and when to crack a good joke.

Whether you are so introverted you need me to teach you how to stand, or so extroverted you need me to tell you to breathe, I’m here for you.

"It was great working with her as me and my husband don’t know what to do or how to pose when we take pics. Katrina was patient and kind during the whole time with her!"

If you are a dog person, a laugher, and someone who appreciates a great story between photo spots, we are already best friends. My goal is to know what makes you smile so genuinely that the camera barely registers I am there.

I apologize in advance, but I will show you pictures of my dogs. It is an occupational hazard. They are perfect, and you need to know.

  • I live to laugh. And I laugh hardest when you do, so expect a good dose of bad jokes here and there. I have found that making people genuinely laugh helps them relax, resulting in those amazing photos where your smile reaches your eyes. You simply can not fake that!

  • I am a Real Housewives fan. I am well versed in most franchises. If you need a friendly, gossipy banter partner to discuss which housewife is currently embroiled in some ridiculous scandal, I am absolutely your girl.

  • I have a high pressure background. I have shot for publications like the New York Times, which means I am skilled at working quickly with people from different backgrounds and building rapport fast. This ensures we get stunning images that we all love, no matter what happens on location.

  • I love to travel! I have been to Europe three times, spent five months collectively in Thailand (I wanted to become a kickboxer, but those plans were thwarted by an unfortunate staph infection), and visited Morocco. I am always itching to see more African countries next!

  • I am an extroverted introvert. This means I thrive in a small group setting, which is precisely why I love elopement photography! I get to meet new people, quickly get to know you, and discover what makes us all laugh.

5 Things About Me!

I know, "love historian" sounds a bit much, but stick with me. You are deeply in love, and I am documenting it with my camera in the most beautiful way possible.

Years later, when you look at these photos and share them with your family, you are showing them the very beginning, the history of you starting your own family.

I absolutely love that I can contribute to that. It is my way of leaving a small piece of me behind while making a lasting mark in your lives.

As your elopement photographer, it is important to me that you get to slow down. I want you to feel unhurried, take in the moment, and savor the beautiful scenery all around you. This is your day.

Life is so hectic that there are not too many days where you get to literally stop and smell the roses. This is a day for you to relish in your love for each other; the photos are simply a souvenir of that profound commitment.
